Water Bake Sale

A lesson in leadership.

Design charettes. Not going to lie, I miss these stress-plagued-cluster-f%!^$. A team of industrial design graduate students, and underclassmen have 2 days to solve the world’s problems and then tell the department about it. Randomly paired, my amazing co-hort in graduate studies, Kristen and I led a group of plucky upstarts given just one directive, “water”.

At the time, deep in our world-saving studies, the age old “most of the world doesn’t have clean drinking water” problem seemed like the obvious topic. Brainstorm this around “it seems to only cost $200 to make a potable well happen” and sudden this team of ne’er-do-wells were off to the races to, well, raise $200. Like immediately. Therefore, we came to the only possible conclusion that first worlders could come up with to raise money overnight. We’d have a bake sale. Of water.

Launched: 2011
