Terra Touch Screen

Connectivity through touch. Before touching was cool.

An idea came up as a few of us were waiting in the elevator lobby of our University. Hundreds of students waited as elevators, meant to carry 12 at a time, tirelessly moved up and down because all of the schools class schedules started at the same time. Who never thought about staggering? Even airlines do it. That wasn’t the problem at hand. The problem was conveying upcoming campus events, to our captive audience in an attempt to spread knowledge across the campus.

We are all familiar with the disheveled poster boards of yesteryear. We wanted an upgrade. Something tech-savvy and easily updatable. Why not a giant Digital Touch screen where we can update out information in an instant. Seems hilarious now, but in 2010, the money, tech and software wasn’t quite ready for primetime. We did what any resourceful graduate student would do. Scavenge for materials, and not ask for permission. Within a week, we had a 110″ touchscreen ready to go. You would think when putting a giant hole in the wall someone would ask who approved this, but nope. Liberal arts schools baby.
